One will find that many of these products are healthier alternatives to typical meals-on-the go and processed foods and therefore may be helpful to the person transitioning to a diet with more vegetarian or vegan ingredients. But many of these items are still processed. Unprocessed basics, such as fruits, vegetables, legumes, and whole grains are best not to forget. Also, many of these items contain soy, to which many people are allergic, and which may be best eaten in moderation. Earth Balance Buttery Spread or Shortening (hands down the best-tasting non-hydrogenated margarine)
 
Ener-G Egg Substitute (perfect for baked goods)

Trader Joe's Organic Sugars or Sugar in the Raw

Trader Joe's Agave Sweetener (photo from hangrypants.com)
 
 
Tofutti Cream Cheese (the one without the hydrogenated soybean oil)
 
 
Trader Joe's Soy-Cheese Slices (not vegan)
 
Follow Your Heart Vegan Cheeses (great for making nachos; try the monterey jack flavor)
 
 

Breakfast                                                                                                             

Nature's Path Instant Flax Oatmeal (sweet enough to eat as is, but not so sweet that you feel guilty adding some blueberries and brown sugar. Those with a big appetite might need to eat two packages at a time)

Bob's Red Mill 10 Grain Hot Cereal (I like to add a good amount of brown sugar, soy, rice, or almond milk, and blueberries) 

Lunch, Dinner, and Snack Items                                                                

Road's End Organics Shells & Chreese - particularly wonderful after adding spinach, Old Bay Seasoning, and vegan, veggie, or regular ham

Trader Joe's or Amy's Vegetable Burritos 

Trader Joe's Tuscan White Bean Hummus

Trader Joe's 12 Grain Mini Snack Crackers

Trader Joe's Vegan Meatballs 

S&B's Golden Curry (so delicious AND convenient - in most grocery stores; does contain MSG...)

Amy's Organic Minestrone Soup

Primal Strips Meatless Jerky (the Hickory Smoked flavor is a personal favorite)

Quorn Chik'n Tenders (vegetarian, not vegan; work great in meals that call for chicken)

Dessert                                                                                                                 

Good Karma "Rice" Cream (the creamiest "rice" cream ever, try the chocolate peanut butter fudge flavor)

Newman-O's (I think they are even better than traditional Oreos...)

Zen-Soy Chocolate Pudding

Stroopwafels (do contain honey; a lovely dessert to pair with a good cigar; bless the Dutch)

Blue Diamond Almond Milk (a creamy alternative to cow's and soy milk)
